Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Japan and President of the University of Basrah visit Chiba University

On June 3, 2022, H.E. Mr. Abdul Kareem KAAB, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq and Prof. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, President of the University of Basrah, visited Chiba University. They met with Prof. Toshinori Nakayama, President of Chiba University, Prof. Makoto Watanabe, Executive Vice President for Education, Student and International Affairs and Prof. Keiko Sakai, Dean of the Center for Relational Studies on Global Crises. They discussed the projects implemented by the College of Medicine and College of Fine Arts at the University of Basrah and the potential for future collaboration between the University of Basrah and Chiba University.
After the meeting, the delegation visited University Library on the campus. Prof. Hiroya Takeuchi, Vice President, Director of the University Library, gave a guided tour of the facilities, including the contents, learning spaces and support system, and they engaged in an active question-and-answer period.
Chiba University concluded university-level exchange agreements with two universities in Iraq in 2017 and 2018. We hope this visit will be an opportunity to develop further cooperation between Iraq and Japan/the University of Basrah and Chiba University.
